How does Fullscreen feel about musicians?

My channel is a hybrid. What I mean is that i consider myself both a filmmaker and a musician, and my channel reflects that. As a musician on Youtube, doing cover songs is a great way to get your name out there as well as showcase your variation of a known song.

Now, if I were to apply to Fullscreen, would my cover songs be an issue for them? Do they have licenses if the network plans on monatizing them? Is there a way to not monatize the cover songs and just my own originals like I can with the standard Youtube monatizing settings?

I was just curious is someone from the network could explain, or even anyone else who knows about these things!

Thanks in Advanced,
-RJ

not too sure man i could msg my manager and see what he says if you'd like unless someone here can answer it

Well I dont really know much about musicians but I havent seen much musicians partnered with them. I know social blade and maker studios partner alot of musicians but yeah I guess it was a good idea posting here :)

Not sure if this is adding anything to it, but because FS (and other networks) just signed a deal with a music company (not sure what the organization is formally called), FS will be able to let their musicians monetize covers. I'd check what songs are available, though.

You don't need to monetize the cover songs, but my network manager said that even if you don't monetize something, you might get a copyright claim/strike. I'm not really sure why this is. So, it's best to avoid it.

For your own original music, there should be no problem with you monetizing it the standard way because it is your original content.

CAVEAT: I don't represent FS, so I would suggest double checking with a network representative. :]

Cover songs are not an issue. Fullscreen has a deal with music publishers that will allow you to monetize certain songs, so if the song is in one of those catalogs, you can monetize it and any song that is not in the catalog will stay unmonetized. Before the recent deal with Universal, the catalog was over 50k songs, so there's plenty in there to choose from if you decide to stick to monetizable songs.

You should contact Fullscreen Artist Mix if you have questions.

Exactly as above post, FAM (Fullscreen Artist Mix) has a list of songs you can monetize. If the list don't have your cover song, don't attempt to monetize. But I think recent deal with Universal, will add a lot of new songs to FAM catalogue.

Fullscreen has a lot of cover artist. They are fine with partnering them obviously. However, you a limited to a list of songs you can claim, the list is a pretty decent size and it should grow a lot because they just did a deal with Universal for cover artist. You could also check if there are certain networks that are just for cover artist!

Fullscreen has Lyndsey Sterling ( instrumental covers) and Tyler ward (covers)! Check them out on VidstatsX. I just got accepted for a new client.

Where can I get the FAM Feature? I've already been partnered with FullScreen with all the other features, but I can't find the FAM library!

We have an entire network devoted to musicians and just signed a massive deal with Universal Music Publishing Group that will allow partners to cover songs from many top 40 artists. Our music network is called FAM. Feel free to reach out to them on Twitter: @FAM_music
