How did you grow your YouTube Channel?

I've found being kind and helpful to people in small related communities (on reddit ) with problems that also relate to my videos (which are tutorials) has attracted people to my channel. Twitter, FB and Instagram have had much less impact.

Lol, and I just subscribed to Chris.. because I am new, and have already seen several friendly and helpful posts from him, so I was curious as to what kind of channel he has. Turns out I really dig it! Nice channel ;).
 
ive been doing the same stuff for years, but the first big growth BOOST was when a video about a fish stalking a girl went a bit viral.

...it will never not be funny to me how many people saw that ridiculous video xD
