Help! Partnership Question

So, what I'm wondering is...are there any successful gaming youtubers here that are NOT partnered with anyone other than YouTube? I've been partnered with YouTube on my main channel for several months and my gaming channel for the past 3 months or so (when I created it). I've been careful not to monetize gameplay that I think would cause me any issue. I've started reaching out to publishers for permission, but usually only have access to contact Public Relations and so far haven't much of a response.

What I'm asking is:
1. Anyone here only partnered with YouTube that are monetizing their videos with permission?
2. Who are you contacting and what are you saying when asking for permission?
3. Any helpful and relevant information on this topic is welcome

I only just now hit over 1,000 subs on my gaming channel so I know I don't have much pull when it comes to asking for permission for monetizing gameplay, but I'd like to hear from someone that has some experience.

Usually games state in their Terms of Use whether or not you can use it, so you don't always have to ask for permission if that's what you're doing.

Can you link me to a few examples? What do they say specifically that allow you to monetize the gameplay?

"Any tools you write for the game from scratch belongs to you. Other than commercial use (unless specifically authorized by us in our brand and assets usage guidelines - for instance you are allowed to put ads on your YouTube videos containing Minecraft footage), you're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don't just rip art resources and pass them around, that's no fun. Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don't sell them for money. We reserve the final say regarding what constitutes a tool/plugin and what doesn't."

I would not monetize gaming footage directly with YouTube. It is way to risky, and I have heard way to many bad stories.

And doing the same by just being linked to a CMS account is safer how? If they want to take down the footage, they will.

True, but when you are with a network, you claim a video. This means that YouTube does not review your video for monetization. When they review gaming videos, they get rejected all the time. This will end up costing you tons of money (in comparison). With a network, you claim a video, and it will only be removed from monetization if it is auto-matched with 3rd party content, which rarely happens with gaming. I have heard of a good number of gamers who ended up getting disabled adsense accounts, so I would not risk it. It just is not worth it imo. The fact is, networks may not give you legal protection, but YouTube is less likely to remove your video. This may not be a set in stone fact, but if you were to test it by uploading the same videos on partnered and unpartnered accounts, I would guarantee you that the partner would be able to monetize every time, while the channel without network partnership would get half of the videos disabled from adsense.

Yes you can monetize videos straight away with a network but that doesn't make it "safer". Indeed using Google ads against material you don't own can result in suspension, I haven't personally heard that happen to anyone.

YouTube is less likely to remove your video

YouTube is the middle man, they only take down your video. The copyright holder must file a DMCA claim against your video in order for YouTube to take a video down. So, the copyright holder will issue a DMCA claim regardless of whether you're linked to a network.

Do not monetize your video... plus you are not allowed to partner with purely youtube for a gaming channel, I was banned by adsense with my artist account (Not even gaming, completely copyright free), was suspected an invalid clicks activity...... was banned by adsense and they never even bothered to check and I got accused... Well all I can say is try your very best to avoid partnering just with youtube itself.
