Hey everyone, I am going to start a Tech YouTube channel in the next few weeks and I will be doing videos on the big tech news, indepth gadget reviews, unboxings and so much more. :)

My channel and videos will be similar to the big Tech Youtubers like MKBHD, Jon Rettinger and Mrwhosetheboss, etc and I am a massive Tech head/geek and have been for a really long time and have owned multiple gadgets over the years just like them as well haha.

So, i would really like to get some helpful advice please as I don't really know on where to start and making my Tech videos professional and enjoyable, getting my videos to the right audience(people) and more.

I have not done YouTube in terms of making videos in over 4 years, so things is most probably completely different in 2020 compared to back in 2014 - 2016 time now.

Anyway, can anyone give me some of the really good and helpful tips on starting a Tech Youtube channel please?? :help:

Thanks. :):up2:

Moved to the strategy / technique forum. :)

There wasn't any secret sauce back in 2014 and there isn't any in 2020. :) - It all comes down to making good videos and uploading consistently. That's the hard part - doing it week in week out, even when you don't feel like it.

I would say however that one big difference now compared to 2014 is that YouTube is a lot stricter on what type of content you can upload and more specifically monetize. So my first advice would be to actually read YouTube's rules and TOS and to ensure you follow them. If you're doing tech videos, I'm guessing you'll be recommending particular products and maybe doing some affiliate marketing (earning a commission from recommending products) - That is allowed but the FTC has very strict rules on how you must disclose that fact and YouTube / FTC does enforce those rules so make sure you read up on that.

Good luck. :)

I would mimic this part of what Crown said. Consistency is key.

However something to add. MKBHD has a team. Spends hours upon hours of time creating a single video getting it done right. Try not to set your expectations too high :)

Another thing is audio is more important than video. Get that audio right :)

See what all those other tech people are doing... and do something DIFFERENT. Present it in a different way somehow, make it more engaging. find a POINT OF DIFFERENCE. basically ask yourself - if someone is already watching those other channels why should they / would they subscribe to you as well?
After all there are only so many products in the marketplace - especially when talking about new release products.

And my personal view... unboxings.. arrrrgh BORING.

(But the again I can watch hours of people detailing cars LOL, so each to his own I guess )
