1. You need to apply. There are different requirements (depends where you apply to for a partnership) but you basically need a good amount of subs and views (total and per video)
2. You can put links on your YouTube background, there's the scheduled uploader and there's other stuff but I can't remember so sorry about that
3. It would be likely for that to happen
4. I don't really understand this question. You don't pay to become a partner. If you are a partner then you should be uploading HD videos which means you will spend money on expensive stuff unless you already have it
5. Mostly there isn't. You just need a level of maturity

There is important distinction to consider.
Your videos might get monetization option without you being in YT Partner program.
For example,I have the option to monetize my videos, but I am not a YT Partner.
YT Partner is much higher plane of monetization story than regular youtuber with an option to monetize.

It is when you get the option from YT to allow you to show Adsense ads on your videos.
If someone clicks at the ad on your video, you earn money.

I figured I'd give some more clear and accurate answers.

First off, you need to understand that there's two types of "partners": monetization partners, who can only use ads, and full partners, who get all the features, such as thumbnails and banners. To become the first, the only requirement is that all the content on your channel is your original creation, not copyrighted material. If you meet that, then you just need to set up an adsense profile, hook it up to your channel, and you're all good. To become a full partner, either YouTube will invite you themselves once you're a monetization partner, or you can apply to a network via their site, like TGN or Fullscreen. If you're going for the latter, with all the partner benefits, the following apply to you.

#1~ It depends. Most want you to have some established content, like 15 videos, or 15,000 monthly views. It depends on the circumstances though, people who don't meet these still get approved all the time. I'd have something though.

#2~ With the regular partnership, you only get ads, which earn you money. Regarding actual partnership, you get banners, custom thumbnails, and schedules uploads.

#3~ The custom thumbnails can attract attention, and if you're with a network, they may promote you. Other than that, no.

#4~ You don't pay anything into the program. You earn money, and YouTube or your Network takes a cut of that. You never pay anything.

#5~ You need to either be 18, or have somebody who is at least 18, like a guardian, to do it in their name.

Feel free to inbox me if you have more questions.
