Does Putting Ads on your views increase traffic ?

I actually haven't heard this......but it would make sense in a way....since Youtube has seemingly become all about the money lol

It does not. It usually has the opposite effect because many people click away as soon as they see the ad start so the video doesn't run long enough for you to get credit for a view.

I've never heard this. It's most likely the opposite because most people would probably click away because of ads. But ever since YouTube allowed everyone monetization pretty much everyone has ads so people are used to it. Ads have nothing to do with getting more views. That doesn't even make sense lol.

I agree with everyone else; it would make more sense if it were the opposite way.

However, I did notice a few YouTubers (like tastemade) who make "ads" out of their videos (if you've been on youtube lately, you might have noticed the ad; it's a cooking video about white pana cotta, chocolate shards, etc). I find that I do skip all ads, unless they're of a YouTuber's video, whereas I'll actually visit the channel if the video intrigues me.

It would make sense to increase traffic if you were to make an ad of your video.

.. But that's not what you're asking so my whole post was pointless :p

YouTube used to put videos from partnered channels higher up in search results because it used to be difficult to get partnered, so you had to have good content. I don't think they do it anymore since so many people are partnered and being partnered no longer means you have good content.

YouTube wants good content to appear at the top of search results, even if the video isn't monetized. The reason is that if you find a good video in a search you perform, you're more likely to stick around and watch more videos, thus making YouTube more money.

I'm pretty sure that's the rumor you're talking about.

Not to be too rude to the naysayers, but it makes perfect sense for YouTube to prioritise ad enabled content because it makes them more money. I don't believe there will ever be sufficient evidence to suggest or prove it to be true however.
