Do you use additional lighting?

Do you use any additional lighting when making your videos? If so what kind of additional lighting do you use? I know that my girlfriend struggles with just the good old Sun for lighting and when its dull it spoils her video making and she could really do with some spotlights. Anyone know what kinds of lights are best for use in the house? Something good priced and hangable or wall mountable? Is additional lighting essential to your videos?

Luckily I dont need to use any my camcorder has a built in light for the dark times and works okay for what I use it for.

I have a spot light in my room that i can turn and its really bright and i use that i dont use anything profesional.

That's actually not a bad idea if it works well enough and cheaper than buying extras, how is it at night though do you get strange colours in your video with the light?
