Hello all!
If I plan on joining a gaming network in the future (a few months) Do I click Enable beside the monetization in the "features" tab or do I just leave it be?

you can but don't monetise videos as you could get a few copyright strikes next to your name which would then mean a big NO to your chances of getting partnership.
I wouldn't do it until you got partnership.

yea just looked at your content enable your adsense and get a partner! if you actually monetized the videos you would get copyright strikes which you dont want. Um is the music you use your own ? and do you have comentary in all your game video's if not you will have a hard time getting partnmership

Monetizing doesn't make you more prone to copyright strikes. Whether the game's licence allows commercial use is another story though.

Well yes it does make you more prone to copyright strikes whether 1% or 100% but you are still more prone to it. If I remember rightly when a non partner tries to monetize their gaming videos they instantly go under review which partnered channels don't. So therefore they have a higher chance of being caught for a copyright strike. Whether they get one is a different story. That is up to YouTube and once your get a strike it is pretty hard to get rid of it.
But in the end a non partner only gets 1 chance/1 strike and then your chances of get partnered has dropped to almost 0%. Is that worth it just because you think you might have some right to upload and monetize a gaming video?

You are a YouTube Partner when you successfully monetize at least one video.

Indeed partners directly with YouTube, videos go under review for monetization. What does this have to do with getting a copyright strike? YouTube does not issue DMCA notices of copyright infringement. It is up to the copyright holder to file a legal DMCA notice to YouTube to remove a video (which carries along a strike). Therefore, you are not more prone to copyright strikes if you aren't with a Network even if they had licences.

What people said, click the enable button but DON'T monetize any of your gaming videos yet

Oh look, it is the ever favorite topic where everyone likes to repeat bad advice.

Above quoted people range between partially and completely wrong. You should all spend the time to do some more research, here is a great place to start:

TL;DR: Monetize it if you're in line with Fair Use AND if your game publisher is known to have 'not an *******' status.

I'd appreciate it if you not bring me into your concession on monetization.
