Difference between fixed vs cpm?

Hey everyone, I've been reading some info on networks and have become a little confused. I see the initials CPM being thrown around a lot and I don't know what it means. Can someone please explain how networks pay you? Some say they pay a fixed amount while other offer a percentage of the earnings. Which is better and why? Thanks! :)

Fixed flat rate CPM is never a good idea as you will lose out on popular seasons when CPMs shoot up

I used to be at a fixed CPM and was happy with it. Instead of making a statement like "Fixed CPM's always suck", why don't you just let the person decide for himself. Some people like a fixed CPM because it provides security in there payout.

Basically, a flat rate on CPM means you'll always make a certain amount, say $2, pet 1,000 views. Obviously that can be good if you would have earned less, but it's bad if you would have earned more. I guess you have to ask yourself whether you believe that you will go viral or slowly fade into obscurity.

Not at all... all fixed rate contracts I`ve seen, have a clause that says if the partner is making the network a loss, they have a right to kick them...
