Cut or don't cut cutscenes?

Benjamin

I Love YTtalk
So, I've seen people on YouTube monetizing their vids of gameplay including cutscenes. They keep silent during the whole thing. I thought it was not allowed? Could someone give me a heads up?

Thanks! :)

I put bits of talking through mine but as I understand you have some kind of commentary in the cut scene and you can't leave it silent.

Just to be safe you should cut them out because all it takes is for the company to come to your video and boom you have a strike :)

Youtuber theRadbrad had Tomb Raider uploaded one week to early and he had to take it down. But now it's there again with cutscenes. I don't understand why some people would get a strike and others don't. Kinda weird..

Cutscenes are no more copyrighted than the game its self so if you are doing something like a lets play or a walkthrough definitley leave them in

Not really, look at rockstar they are a known company to copyright people for showing cut scenes, so I would leave them out because all it takes is 1 strike to ruin a whole channel
Well yeah rockstar are an exception. i remember when they tried to shut SSoHPKC for playing red dead redemtion.

either way the rule still stands as a general

True but still if it was me I wouldn't be taking the risk :p

I wouldn't take the chance with a rockstar game but with everything else you have to keep the cut scenes in if its a walkthrough or lets play otherwise why would people watch it. you would just be missing half of what is going on

I have 47 full game walkthroughs in my channel, all of them have cutscenes, I never cut them out. All of my walkthroughs are monetized.
The key is to partner your channel with good network which allow you to upload gaming content without getting the strike or ID claim.
