Curse (Union For Gamers) Lowers Requirements Again?!?!

ConnersCraft

I Make Video Games... :)
In the last few months, Curse has been repeatedly lowing it requirements. Originally, they required 5000 subs. Then they went to 1000 subs. Next it was 1000 subs or 10k views per month. Now it is 8k views per month. What do you think of these changes? It seems to be lowing every few weeks. I am deciding if I should resign my contract with RPM, because If they lower it anymore, I could probably join soon. This has been my dream network, but they seem to be going down that road of lowering the requirements too much, and this has not ended well for many networks (Machinima for example). Do you guys think that Curse will lower its requirements any more? Also, do you think this is good or bad for the network?

I honestly think that lowering requirements too much can be a bad thing for a network. Unless they have quality control, which a lot of them do not, they end up with hundreds of smaller channels that request access to all their features, and most likely end up loosing the network money in the long run.

And that actually sparks a questions, does RPM have quality control? RPM Moosh RPM Jess RPM Aldy

I went on the UFG forums, and they do seem to be denying people for quality reasons and channels that had 1 viral video and met the requirements from it. I'm not sure about RPM though. :)

That is the only problem I have with any network. If they accept people without looking at their videos and checking their quality, I would not feel appreciated or that I had achieved anything by joining them.

Networks usually lower their requirements because they are falling behind the market, for example, 300 partners signed up in May and then they only had 150 signs up for the month of July. It usually means they're compensating for something else by allowing more channels in/more revenue. From what I've seen with other networks, it's not a good sign.

"You need at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 views in the last month or 8,000 views in the last month to be eligible."

Before, like you said, it was just 1,000 subscribers. But, a lot of people just botted their way up to those standards to get partnered. Since then, I believe they added the view requirement as well just as an assurance that channels are actually getting views and not just fully botting for subs. Either way, you can bot for views and subscribers these days. And like Gabriel said, a lot of other networks have way lower requirements so they must have been struggling to get many partners. I know a lot of people think of UFG positively because of their transparency on their website, and most of all, their high revenue split. I am sure they will be getting quite a few more partners now. :p

Hey guys,

My two cents! I wouldn't worry so much about thresholds or who's getting partnered where, but rather, how YOU can be YOUR best. It's a pretty sweet deal if a network is willing to offer partnership and services based on your potential. Some folks take that potential and steer WAY off course, but you wont have to worry about them, or how they represent the network. What matters most is making sure that you take advantage of every opportunity a network can provide to GROW, GROW, GROW!

RPM is about giving people who are just getting their feet wet a chance to be the next big thing. Most networks don't have a destination or a lot of room to move up. But if you utilize our services and reach for the stars, then you can graduate to a vertical like Polaris (formerly The Gaming Station), or Maker Studios. In fact, a lot of Polaris's recent talent, like Markiplier, came directly from RPM. Also, keep in mind that the network is still very young. Things will only get better from here as we continue to add tools that help polish all the diamonds in the rough.

Thanks for listening!

I understand what you are saying, but a lot of people see getting partnership as an achievement. So, when the network keeps lowering the requirements, and then you manage to get on because you hit them. It really isn't an achievement. That is one of the reasons I would have preferred to been on YouTube at the start of it all, because there would be more of a challenge to reach partnership level.
