Crushing GoPro with a Car

This was my close call and probably the stupidest idea I've ever had with any of my GoPros! I decided it would be smart to mount my GoPro Hero 4 Black OUTSIDE of my car and go through the car wash. Somehow my camera survived being ran over by a car and then laying in soapy water for a few minutes outside of its case. I haven't made this video public because I feel like an idiot for doing this. If you did this, would you make it public?

Ahaha :giggle: Yeah, make it public!

You might even be surprised how well it'll do - there's a whole community of people who have had an "oops" moment with a GoPro..!

hmmm maybe I will. But this is just plain beyond stupid. It will probably get shared a lot by people saying "look at this idiot!". Maybe I will, it's been almost a year as unlisted now.

Well, you are silly for doing it ;) I thought it was funny though... and not nearly as idiotic as the dude who put his drone above the clouds and then lost it!

When the stupid scrubber hit my camera the first time, I was like "Oh f**k..." Then I had to think quick... Roll down the window and grab my camera and not get soapy water and wax inside my car before it falls off. Right when I went to hit the button the camera fell off and I just saw dollar signs getting crushed below my car. I'm just glad the camera and memory card survived...

They're hardy little things. I have one and I've put it through some serious abuse. I fly planes in my spare time and some of my pilot friends have managed to mount theirs on the outside of their plane, fly around with it on and still have it there in one piece when they land.

I think I'd be more concerned about ruining the inside of my car though... opening your window in a car wash sounds terrifying.

Yeah it's one of those things where I had to VERY quickly decide what was the better choice. I went to open the window right as it got knocked off, then I had to sit in my car and go the rest of the way through hating myself for possibly breaking over $750 of equipment! Thankfully the expensive stuff lived, the $500 camera and my $72 memory card. My case is still usable, but I don't use it for water proof situations anymore.

Here was one of my early GoPro Hero 3 videos, it was another moment where I immediately regretted what I was doing. I only broke my tripod on this one lol!
