Could I use a sound clip of someone speaking from a film if I change the pitch? Like if I made it high pitch, or would that still be copyright?
50 years after the death of the original artistAlthough it would be a good option to at least find some way of contacting the original artist. But since that seems highly impossible these days, I'd at least give credit and at least indicate that you don't own the soundclip. Although if it's a rare soundclip from a 1930s or 1940s film, there may be a chance the copyright is lost. I heard for music copyright only lasts 5 years unless you're a sought after classic like the Beattles.

Technically that script clip would still be copyright.Alternatively you can re-record what the scene said on our own and you will be fine.
