Copyright, forced monetization?

Hello everybody!

So I got in a network but the problem is that I have a few videos with music that I can safely use as long as it is used non-commercially and that I credit the artist. By the looks of it however, it seems like my network will be forcing monetization on every one of my videos. I told them I had the rights to use the songs as long as the videos won't be monetized, but they told me to put them or Private or to delete them. This really isn't good because those videos are part of some series that I have (one being my most popular as well)

Will they really force monetization? If so, can I disable it on select videos after the process?

Also, I have another question, I have a rightful claim by a group for a song on one of my gameplay videos, and I wondered if I would have to do something about it? (I hope not, or else I'll have to delete the entire series...)

Thanks for your help in advance!

Gabriel.

Your fault you shouldn`t have used copyright free music, you should have went with royalty free, all good networks have an auto-claiming bot that will auto claim your videos.
I wouldn`t leave the video up if you get partnered as if you get a copyright strike your network will be forced to unpartner you, also setting a video to private doesn`t work...

Then, can I disable the claiming? This music I got is from legit sources, not some kinda shady website/channel, I do have proof to everything, I just need to have monetization disabled for those videos. They even said they could disable monetization if there were copyright issues, I just needed to give them a list and prove that I have the right to use the content. Gave them the list and the terms, then they want me to delete them... good job on respecting their promises... ._.

Unfortunately I think you'll have to delete them or set them to private. You could get into some channel troubles if you leave them up. Many people have had to do this in the past :*(

No, you can`t set them to non claimed, as they will just auto-claim the next time the network does a auto-claim and after that you will no longer be able to un-claim it as to do that you need access to the CMS (content management system) [for network staff only]

It's not all that great if you're forcing partners into claiming every single video. There are lots of reasons people might not want to claim certain videos. This should be left up to partners or be able to be adjusted with an exclusion list. If they were all that good... they would know how to allow automated exclusions. ;)

I forgot to mention that this is RPM Network, and I heard they have great services. Was anybody else forced by them to monetize everything? Maybe it's a misunderstanding? Because they DID, after all, mention they could disable monetization for videos with copyright issues (including videos with copyrighted music). I do have the right to use the music non-commercially so I don't see why they wouldn't disable it except if they are greedy bastards (which I seriously don't think so coming from them) :p

EDIT: I think I'll send them another email with clear proof for every single video this time around. I'll keep you guys updated.

Yeah, following up is the right course of action. The info in this post kind of conflicts with the first post. The scenario described in the first post basically is a "copyright issue" ... limited usage rights, so it shouldn't be any different unless we're missing something. Anyway, good luck sorting it out!

Well, no luck, it seems like they don't even read my messages. They say RPM partners can't be offered exclusion. Knowing that, I would have joined another network.... stuck with them for a year now :/ Thanks for your help though everybody!

Yeah, I described more stuff as the thread continues because I wrote that in a hurry at first lol. And thanks!
