Copyright and contests

Hello,

I see contests many times on the musicians website for example that say stuff along the lines of "Upload a lip sync video of our new single" Obviously when you do this you get a Content ID notification. There is nothing to dispute this saying it's for a contest. Is the copyright owner aware of the contest and won't take it down no matter when it's on YouTube?

A content owner saying "Do a thing", doesn't transfer monetization rights unless they specify that in advance. So, this would be a situation where you would acknowledge the contentid match.

Honestly, not so sure I'd trust them to not punish though. The artist and the record label are often very independent in their idea of how best to protect content.
