like the avatar, very clean and professional looking, colours work well

good backround, nice use of colours, however it is a little plain looking without much detail

Looks good :D For the avatar, maybe you can work on sizing for a bit? The initial letter I and the ending letter N are slightly cut off.
 
I like the idea for the background, but I think that orange might be a little too bright. You want the background to stay in the back, and if the colors/stripes are overwhelming the eyes then people have a harder time looking at what really matters, the content! That being said you should be aware that on Feb 22nd YouTube channels are changing to remove the backgrounds. I'm not allowed to link or I would show you an example (iJustine's YT channel). Also for the text on the avatar, maybe try offsetting it. Again I can't post links yet so I can show an example, but having Iron left aligned, and then Penguin right aligned, and underneath Iron. Making the text sort of diagonal from each other.
