China and YouTube

Since YT is banned in China, I wonder if it's safe to monetize chinese music and fragments from chinese movies?

ill be the first to tell you how horrible of a person you are for even thinking that, and that you have discraced the YT community with such a sugestion. please go say 47 hail marys and kiss a kitten and you will be forgiven.....obviously i am kidding but you know there will be some that will say almost the same thing and be serious....

I'm not telling everyone to upload chinese stuff and get money from it. Just curious. I wanted to use some epic chinese rap in video and became confused about monetizing it. If their country is banned, then what about third party content match? Copyright dudes from other country can strike or claim the video?

Hmm. I dunno. On one level you're quite right, if nobody can access then who's gonna know... however copyright is still copyright. The people responsible could still lodge a content ID entry to make sure that certain songs don't get used or something. Try it, if you get a claim then you'll know :giggle:

I did have a question though,as this has been told to me several times. if something was never actually published in the US,does it actually retain a copyright here?
