I want to become a singer on YouTube. About how many hits should I have per video uploaded each day/week or per day to earn $500 a month, $1000 a month, $2000 a month, etc?

I saw someone's cover of a song had adverstisement. In that case the ad profits proceed to the original artist?

500 a month = over 7.5k views a day
1000 = Well over 15k views a day..

and so on.

First off, you will never be successful on YouTube if you are just trying to make money. It will not work. But to answer your question, it varies a lot. To earn $500, you will need between 500,000 and 100,000 monetized views. For $1000, just double it. Only 50%-85% of your views will be monetizable. YouTube is not just a big pit of money to jump into. It usually takes over a year before you can even make $100 a month. YouTube is a social network. Very few people can actually make a living off of it.

Why should it matter how much money you get? -.- do videos because you have fun with it. Money should be the last thing on your mind.

People like you make me sick. Just saying.

Most networks don`t deal with channels you cover sings because if you don`t have the license to cover them then it isn`t legal to do so for money.

Fullscreen is the only one I know of that has some licenses (Universal and Warner and some smaller labels) but still not them all.

To earn a 1000$ a month that`s on average about 200,000-500,000 monetized views.

Well said, don't worry too much though the people who are very money orientated generally fail on youtube as it transcends to their audience.
