Camera battery extension possible?

We are planning a big trip in the second part of November and I will need my camera fully operational (mainly because of the zoom function). We are using around 3 years old Everio JVC with 32 Gb memory card. Do you know what is the best way to extend the battery life - is it possible just to buy new battery and to exchange it during filming or I must buy some external device and to plug it as external battery?

PS. We'll be constantly traveling during the day so it will not be possible to recharge the batteries. I think the batteries survive around 40 min filming only if not less!

You can buy additional battery if 1 goes out just insert another one. Just have both fully charged before. I think its always essential to have additional battery just incase. And since your camera is old i bet if you buy a new exact same battery for your camera it will probably last longer.

Thanks. I also think this will be the best strategy. I'll see what is the price and may be I will buy two extra one.
