what do you guys use for tags? I used to use rapidtags and betterwaytoweb and they helped a lot (my views went from <1k to >10k per day) but they don't work anymore due to yt changes. i've heard vidiq on google chrome has them but I don't want to buy it just for that if its not that good or doesn't work. i've heard people say using these sites doesn't help much or even that it is scummy because you are basically spamming tags. I've even heard people suggest putting tags in description and that has helped on the few videos i've done it. Just asking for a second opinion on what is best to do. regards

Tags have very little weight. That's why they've been buried in the creator studio. If that's all you needed, everyone would copy pewdiepie's tags and be millionaires.

For metadata SEO - Put your main keyword in the title and then write a proper description in proper English that contains your keywords (NOT a list of keywords) and then put your tags as well.

However as mentioned above - The main ranking factor on YouTube is audience retention. Make good videos = people will watch to the end = algorithm promotes your video.
