At what point is "getting partnered" a good idea?

I've Got It
Obviously right now, I have no intention of getting partnered. I don't know my views per day, just audience retention stuff from analytics on YouTube. I have 31 subs, so I'm not going anywhere right now. However I want to go somewhere, and I'm working on that.

I've been reading on this "monetization" sub-forum tonight and it makes me wonder:

There's a lot of subtext here. Is there any point in me reading this right now, when really I should focus on me and my videos? At what point is it a good idea for me to consider it, if at all? Maybe going solo is fine if that's what I want.

I understand partner networks can really help you for marketing, networking and increasing your subscriber-base, but otherwise... longterm point?

Discuss.

I'd like to know this as well. I've seen ads from channels smaller than mine, but I would have never thought it was worth it where I am now.

Partner networks only really help you with marketing, networking, and increasing your subscriber base once you've passed 100,000 subs.

My advice would be: don't sign with a network until *they're* the ones chasing after you. And even then, force them to demonstrate that they can add value before considering their offer.

For what it's worth, I waited until 35k subs and 1 million views per month-and it took over a month to go over the fine points of the contract and get some sort of guarantee that I would make more from the partnership than I would from adsense.

You are only going to get the best from a network when you are a larger channel. Your more open to negotiate at this stage and get better deals.

Like gisikw said, wait until a network approaches you, chances are if they really want you, then you will be able to negotiate with them more and get the best deal possible.

go with a network when they offer you something that you will benefit from.

Whether it be a guarantee on more money, promotion or maybe video editing.
If it benefits you from what you have without a network, it`s time to go to one. (and I mean serious things not something like a channel banner..)

It's generally dangerous to use adsense in my case being a gaming channel though, isn't it?
