Are channel trailers still effective?

Im debating on making a trailer for my gaming channel but im debating on if its worth it or not. I already have the intro for it at the moment. Also if its a good idea what should I implement in my trailer for maximum effect

I very rarely watch channel trailers, however, I will say, I find they work great with Gaming channels, especially those that cover a wide variety of games. But instead of standing there telling me "i like this or that" why not make a compilation of sorts as a best of, to give us a very quick look at your sense of humour, your quality of commentary etc.
channel trailers like this have made me consider subscribing to channels that on first view seem like 'here's 5 million videos, good luck' and im too far out of the loop to get into their content at this point, but instead show me some short clips that are almost viral worthy to get me interested to be there for future fun moments like that.
overall, keep a trailer short and sweet and consider how someone who stumbles on you would be looking for (its usually to be entertained) I say go for it!

I wonder if channel trailers are effective at all. I know I would never go to someone's channel page to watch a trailer. If I find one of your videos, through regular search/recommendations, and I like it, I am likely to subscribe. I never go look at someone's channel page for anything, especially a trailer.

That being said... I have a trailer because everyone said I am supposed to have one ha ha

If done right a channel trailer is VERY important. it lets someone that hasnt subbed to you yet know what to expect from you. I suggest no longer then 2 minutes. I also suggest making a trailer for people that have subbed to you. Alot of people skip this step and it is a great way to keep your subs updated on what youre doing now. Often times you will find some subs wont get notified of new content. this is a great way to handle that problem by letting them know how often you post. or your days of posting so they know and expect your videos in advance.

In reality if done right you should update your trailer whenever you have a change in direction with your channel. (it could be every 2 months - 6months if you like) if you add a new type of playlist never done before on your channel. Highlight it with your channel trailer. its a great way to convert people that are not subbed to you.

if you like check your analytics and see how many people subbed from your channel page itself and not a video. After making a channel trailer wait a few weeks and see if there is any improvements to those numbers.

When in doubt split test EVERYTHING.

I think its "how you use it", I mean it puts challenge on you to hunt down the parts of what
people will expect from you on your channel. People want to know what there
getting themselves into.

I made one for fun and it shows short clips of what I create. Every time the video is watched, someone is probably visiting my channel page, unless someone is searching for my channel name directly. Difficult to say whether it has much value though.
