After the contract?

So lets say you are partnered with a network and you use their music library for your vids. What happens after the contract is over? do they let you keep the song that's already in your vid or do they still claim ownership and collect money from videos that use music from their library? Just curious...:)

Interesting question, I assume they claim and monetize it. Just like Harlem Shake videos.

This is one of those nebulous sides of network relationships. The network has arranged for the music to be used and terminating that relationship would most likely terminate the rights to use the music.

However, the network has no right to force monetize content because they don't own the music, they only have a license to use it.

Royalty Free does not mean free. It means you don't have to pay every time you play it, just once for the initial license.

Mmm, yeah true but you would of thought you were still allowed to use the music after the contract, or you could just not monetize the videos with the free music.

If you are in a network like Fullscreen and use their music library's music which belong to audiomicro (which Fullscreen has licenses to), after your contract ends, you must delete all videos containing the music because you no longer have rights to the music. Being in (Fullscreen) gave you the rights to use it but once the contract is over, if you do not remove the video, you could get a copyright strike by (audiomicro). This has been confirmed by Fullscreen.

wow, that sucks! Imagine not having this type of information before signing and finding out later on that you must delete certain vids...ouch. The reason I wanted to get a partnership was have access to the network's music library, but now that I have this valuable information I will need to reconsider my decision. I mean, most people want to get partnered with a network for 1-2 years and then move onto a bigger and better network. So having to delete some of your vids b/c your contract is over and you no longer have access to certain music sucks.:(

There is plenty of Free unlicensed or royalty free music out there, so if that's the reason you are signing with a network you need to do some google searching before you pay someone for something you can get for free (You do pay the network a share of your earnings so their music isn't really "Free")
