A (prefrably free) clear voice recording software

To get good audio it really isn't the software, but the mic. I found an incredibly cheap one that has great quality :)

Like others say, something like Audacity will do. The main thing is that you will record the raw audio data. Plus you should keep it like that and compress it later which will make sure that you keep the original quality and compress it when needed. We record gameplay videos, we record in wav, and compress it with ZIP ( giving a rather good compression ratio ) making it lossless and best quality at the same time.
 
If you need a great low budget mic then get the Microsoft LX3000, I had mine for about two years until one of the earphones broke off (I stepped on it) but the mic still works great. The mic goes for about £16 and if you search around, you will not find one bad review about it.
