50,000 views, 11K from two new videos

Thought I'd share a milestone, and also how I achieved a large part of it to help other creators out there.

I'm a pilot, I setup a channel to share my flights and it's been growing steadily. I also like to travel, and 2 weeks ago I decided to post two 'review' videos of Qatar and British Airways' business class offerings. Those videos got heaps of new traffic from suggested videos, and because of that the BA one got picked up by the BBC and used on their Newsnight program.

Now, those videos have had 11K views (5K and 4K) between them in around 10 days. That's over a fifth of my total channel views.

I thought the "views from the cockpit" videos would bring the views, seems travel reviews are where it's at!

YouTube is a funny beast... :)

I respect what you do, and I've long thought this kind of video would be very popular, but I do think you might be looking at it from your own perspective, not the wider market's view.

I've a friend who was aviation mad, flight simulators at Heathrow the whole nine yards. He's a good example of the target market for the cockpit stuff; the business class reviews open you up to millions.

I'm fascinated by what happens in the cockpit, but for no more than about five minutes. But show me Business (flown it 3 times in my life ) and First and how the other half travel and I'll gladly sit, watch and dream.

I don't want to condescend to offer advice I'm no expert on, but I suspect you should listen to the stats and deliver to your market what they want.

The other angle is that if you enjoy making the cockpit videos and that's what you want to do, then do that and enjoy it. The views will come, but maybe not as fast :)

Congratulation!! I also just hit my 50 000 view milestone not too long ago and the views keep climbing slowly but steadily :). I do believe travel is a very interesting topic and you'll certainly gain good exposure around that topic. The cockpit of an aircraft is really interesting indeed! :)

Good luck on your YouTube journey!

Oh man, people love travel reviews.

We've always been obsessed with "try before you buy" type videos, especially in this economy!
I do actually find the concept of "view from the cockpit" pretty interesting so I will be checking out your channel shortly - I understand that it's not to everyone's taste though, whereas travel videos are often more universally liked.

Either way, you're not wrong about YouTube! Also, big congrats on having your videos do so well, that's badass, dude.
