4th of July Videos

So I was wondering, if the 4th of July show last night had American patriotic songs playing to the fireworks, am I allowed to upload the videos to my channel? I'm not sure if somebody has copyrights to those songs or if you'll even be able to hear them in my videos. I think Katy Perry's song might be a no-no (even though it's just background), but I'm not sure about Sweet Land of Liberty, etc. Maybe I'll just do all slow motion firework videos. I would really like to hear them exploding though.

Wow, that's a really good question. It is always a risk, but you might be able to get away with it if each song isn't very long. In the video, are the songs whole or only about a verse each?

I have heard (now this is just heard) that if the song is a little distorted or hard to hear in places that it can "make it legal" to use. Maybe someone else can enlighten a little more but that is what I heard.

I'm guessing that the song will be hard to hear with all the explosions, but if it's faintly there in the background I'm not sure how this will work. I'm sure if I downloaded and played a version of these songs it would be illegal, but I'm not sure how faint background music would work.

Yeah I can't tell you one way or the other myself, and I surely wouldn't steer you the wrong way to risk your account without knowing.
