lol, 3 subscribers to 25 in roughly 2 months. I thought I was going to be several days ago was gaining subs every day for a little while then it went quiet for a bit but #25 came in today.

youtube has been promoting my video's a lot more lately. when I first started trying to build my channel a couple months ago 65 % of my views were from my promotions now YouTube is generating 75% of my views. positive signs for growth.
 
i see I titled this thread wrong.....lol was supposed to be titled 25, oh well. I actually ended up gaining subscriber 25 and 26 yesterday. weird how subs seem to come in waves. it is kind of weird though seems like youtube likes to keep me right around 50-60 channel views per day. iv been running around that for about the last month posted a new video last week. and as new video's do it was bringing in more traffic but my 48 hour remained relatively stable. just my other video's that had been still preforming dropped off a bit.



edit- now just had another milestone, if you want to call it that,

first public recognition from YouTube. I was rather surprised considering my channel is still quite small.

thanks guys, hoping for 50 by the end of the month. I might have to miss another upload this week I was planning to make a video tomorrow but I don't know that ill have time, I will try anyway. I didn't upload for 3 weeks before last week. that won't help but I have a lot of idea's I think will be great and some time coming up that I should be able to film every day for a bit hoping to get ahead several weeks and be able to have scheduled uploads. I think that will really help.
 
mostly just posting my video's on discussion forums that are on topic to the content of my video's they are forums that I have participated on long before I started making my video's.

I know I gained at least a couple subscribers from the forums as well. 3-4 for sure just from the people that mentioned in the discussions that they subscribed.

I have not promoted all of my videos though just because you start feeling like your spamming them even if its well received. no one has given me any grief for it but I have been active on most of the forums I post my video's on for years prior witch probably helps give me a little extra leeway.

one of the earlier video's I did when I first started trying to build my channel was "how to change breaks on a semi". its a 6.5min long video that was actually pretty good, shows everything you need to know moves along quickly enough to not get bored (if your interested in the topic anyway). being a earlier video its less polished more shaky camera work ect. but has always held better than 70% retention. it wasn't getting any views for quite a while and now this last week has been one of my better preforming video's. witch tells me youtube is certainly starting to have more confidence in placing my video's. being a video posted December 1 was sitting at probably 120 views grew 100 views to 220 in a week. (I know small numbers to most of you guys) but when you have several video's that pull around 100 views per week it does ad up.

biggest focus has been on audience retention. study the audience retention on every video to try to learn what works and what does not. what turns people off. iv got several video's that are holding in the 70%+ and considering my video's are not really entertainment video's per say I think that's pretty dang good considering you always get some of them views where YouTube suggests your video on some off the wall not even remotely related video and gets you a 10 second view.

sometimes YouTube seems to pick a flavor of the week too. ill get a lot of views on one video one week then it will be slow the next week but a different video will be doing good. I try to figure out why but there might not be a rhyme or reason to it...lol

50 subs with days to spare. took me 2 months to go from I don't remember but 3-4 subs to 25 then less than a month from 25 to 50. I don't know if I dare set a goal to double to 100 over the next month but that sure would be nice. really my next big moment iv been waiting for is more than 10 hours of watch time in a single day. on my peeks iv hit in the 9's a few times now.
 
Good job man, I've only just got 25 myself! So hopefully be able to reach 50 by next month and good luck on your next goal! :) Definitely motivates you a lot more as you grow!
