I've Got It
So I decided to go through the entire youtube playbook (one of the most underused resources and guides to youtube in existence) and decided: "why not jot down the main points and tips for future reference!?" So I did and now I'll share them with you! If you have any doubts, just look up the actual playbook, it's been updated to the current youtube layout and is full of useful information! Anyways, here are my notes:
"Youtube tips:
- Captivating intro with video/audio clips from previous videos
- Cut unnecessary content
- Invite viewers to subscribe, provide a reason
- Do things to get people to comment (ask questions?)
- Create an end card with links to videos
- Have a set schedule
- Let people see comments and likes on other channels
- Used scheduled publishing to schedule different videos (a certain
game on a certain day)
- Communicate schedule (New videos every....)
- Create thumbnail for playlist, maybe even a short compilation of
video clips as an intro to the playlist
- Do holiday specials/talk about events/relate events to games
- Talk about content/channel in videos
- Use invideo programming (find out what that is first)
- Link Channel page and describe channel in description
- Link playlist/video in description
- Custom thumbnails
- Place subscribe annotations
- Invideo annotations!
- Good channel description that includes description, schedule,
series, and webpage.
- Make a channel trailer!
- Enable related channel and feature friends' channels in "featured"
- Like and comment to keep your feed active and participate in the community
- Upload as "unlisted", videos don't appear in feed until they go "live"
- Respond to all comments and messages.
- Build the community and make people want to return to your channel,
make them feel involved
- Get other youtubers to promote your videos/channel, and vice-versa.
- Collaborate/guest-star and link to the guest's channel in
descriptions/annotations.
