Youtube as an actual job.

I dont treat youtube as a job i treat as a hobby really

I would consider it a job (and so you should imo). Jobs aren't all bad so it's not like you're comparing it to being the office. Though, in the back of your mind reminder yourself repeatedly that it won't continue forever.

Why wouldn't it continue? ;(

I would treat it as a job after I reach 50k subscribers. Since that's when it really starts to wind down and you HAVE to keep putting out content or you WILL lose fans.

If you want to treat it like a job then you have to treat it with the same respect.

Make sure you are tracking your income and responsible with how you file your taxes each year. Track expenses accordingly and only claim what you can under the business you are owning.

You have to realize you won't be getting any benefits outside of what you pay for yourself, so keep money each month for expenses like medical insurance and etc (as applicable by your country of residence haha).

Lastly, I don't know where you are living, but $700 a month is very minimal living. That's not enough for rent of a bedroom where I live. I wouldn't put so much pressure on your channel and make it your main source of income until you can pull in at least $700 a week.

Why wouldn't it continue? ;(

Why would it? Everything keeps changing and everything ends sometime. There are a billion ways for life to spit in your cereal. What are YOUR alternatives then? What jobs are there for someone who used to play video games on YouTube?

Me doing YouTube full time, on the other hand, would be a whole other story, there wouldn't really be many reasons for me to not do it.

I'm sure all of us would really like to consider YouTube a job, but for now, I think you should just keep at it, and wait until you're at 100k subs before you consider it a part-time, or even a full-time thing.

I don't see why youtube wouldn't be like any other job. In fact, youtube and the Internet are one of the last bastions of true liberty. Think about it, the sky is the limit with youtube. If you are good at it you can make as much as you want. If you are persistent with reasonable talent I'm sure you can eek out a living. If your really smart you would tie your youtube channel into other ventures each fueling one another. The real world sucks from a career standpoint. You can no longer "be who you want to be".

At this stage, earning money off YouTube shouldn't really be considered a job. The money that you do make from the monetisation of your videos should be considered a reward for your the content you put together.
