Why can I not see my YouTube comments?

So I've had YouTube for about a month now and at the start I could see the comments. But recently I would receive an email saying that I received a comment and get a notification on YouTube about it to. But when I clicked it I was not able to see it.

After a while I realised that YouTube assumes that some comments may be SPAM and so they require you to approve them. Haha so now I have solved the problem and wanted to share it with you guys, just in case you went through the same thing =D

i usually avoid checking my received comments via the notification icon. i used to check them via the "community" tab in the video manager. so i will be able to see, approve and check the spam.
