What's the appeal of gaming channels?

I see an endless amount of gaming channels on YouTube and I can't seem to see the appeal! What's the fun in watching endless amounts of people play Call of Duty?
Personally, I watch it for the player, not the game. :) Well, it depends, sometimes I watch for the player AND the game, if it's an awesome game.

Basically, I don't watch because I want to see someone get 50 kills on CoD. I watch to hear people's thoughts, reactions, and banter, ESPECIALLY if it's a group commentary with a bunch of friends gaming together (i.e. Achievement Hunter, Game Grumps, Runaway Guys). Also, CoD ain't the only game out there. ;)

There is a small amount of gamers I will actually watch, because like you said.. It's basically just watching the same stuff with a different commentator.

I only watch Br00talOfficial, Markiplier and Yamimash..

Other then that, It just gets boring. :P

Everyone thats posted already I pretty much fully agree with, for me personally It comes down to whether or not i enjoy the game and if i enjoy the person commentating.. i'm not a fan of just gameplay videos or game reviews, i much prefer to be in hysterics watching someone scream, swear and laugh while playing that game. It's the same for all those different types of channels, some people enjoy watching vloggers because they find their personality funny or interesting and people watch beauty channels or comedy channels because thats what they're into, the abundance of gaming channels may be to do with (i'm making a huge generalisation here and don't quote me on this) the majority of people who are on the internet and computer are gamers of some sort, whether it be onling gaming, offline gaming, browser gaming, hell if you play fb games you're a gamer to some extent haha :). That is all xD

For me, i made an LP video because i enjoy it, and also a self-improvement for me. If i found a good game to play, i usually recommend it to the viewer, so i also wanted to help an indie game dev to promote their game.
