What's the appeal of gaming channels?

I see an endless amount of gaming channels on YouTube and I can't seem to see the appeal! What's the fun in watching endless amounts of people play Call of Duty?

I didn't know Call of Duty was the only game out on the internet D:!!!!. It's because people enjoy watching reactions to games or even like watching a play through of a game that they have really wanted to watch since they knew about it. Becuase in the same sense theres tons of vloggers out there like there is gaming channels

Not everyone plays Call of Duty. With gaming, its finding the right niche to start in. However I don't tend to like Niches because if people only subscribe to watch that if you decide to change up your content no-one will watch it likely and people just ask for whatever your niche is. Thats why I mix it up with popular games and games which are not as popular (such as indie titles.)

It depends on peoples hobbies and interest. for example some people dont see the point in beauty channels, but thats because they dont enjoy it, but people who enjoy it are interested and maybe enjoy working with beauty :)

Personally i dont particularly like watching gaming channels. i usually like the person making them, their personalities make their videos interesting and i like games so it augments it.

Im trying to create a channel that shows my and friends personalities having the time of our lives whilst also being really good at the game (cuz the vids iv seen are either people i like being ok at games or vids of people who are really good but dont show their personalities, thought there might be a niche for both. so like a vlog and good gameplay footage in one :D)

my thoughts anyway :)

For me, Gaming channels seem unappealing because, why watch someone else play a game when you could just go play it yourself? Things that are a bit different, like RageQuit from RoosterTeeth are more enjoyable, because of it's comedy value. But if it's just someone sat playing a game, I'll pass, every time.

Personally I want to see a vlogger talk about gamming.. don't show me the games just talk about the games you play and how you react to them.. And the in the same sense I want a gammer who plays games while doing the cinnamon challenge, jsut talk about thier daily lives.. just anything other than the game.. Maybe I will do this.
