Should I give up if I can't get it right?

I've Got It
Hey everyone, this is more of a critical decision thread than anything. In my heart I'm a gamer, and I've been wanting to do YouTube videos for so long. I have tried on multiple occasions to do gaming video but my mic just can't shake the "S" sound. Now i know what your thinking just remove it in post production. But every single method I've tried has destroyed the audio in the meantime. I use a Samson C01U mic and i use audacity to record. I heard Adobe Audition is amazing but have't tried it. In all honestly my "S" sounds are really strong. I guess I have just one of those natural "S" sounding voices. My question is do i just give it up on trying to make videos if I can't get it right? Of course any tips or help is appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Just eliminate S from your alphabet. You can add that as a selling point (Longest commentary without ever using a word containing S).

I wouldn't give up. If you're using the same mic from your introduction I think it sounds fine.

(By the way I just noticed you're from Massachusetts, I live in Haverhill)

Your mic sounds good if I am being honest, I would not worry about it. Nothing will ever be perfect, just do what you think is good and go along with that.

Your audio seems fine to me, I can hear the thing you're talking about with the S sound, but it doesn't really bother me and I think the only reason I noticed it, was because you mentioned it, so I think you should continue, follow your dream, good luck with your channel, I might check it out again when you have some more videos.

Honestly I wouldn't give up on something like this, simple things like this the you notice are usually unnoticeable by others, there's mess ups and errors in a lot of my videos that I notice and make me think the video is crap, but the reality is it's because it's, in a content creators mind, a mess up and you instantly think it ruins the entire video.

How I've create my podcast is actually pretty simple and quite effective:

I use my phone for voice recording, and then I do my recording under the blankets. The only problem is there's not really enough air.

absolutely not. No need to throw in the towel. Personally I use a dictaphone to record my voice and then just overlay it when editing. The only issue is trying to sync it perfectly but at least then you dont have "puh" Suh" or breath sounds. You can always get a pop guard for the microphone as well? That will help you out loads. If its not working using a headset then just use a stand alone mic or a dictaphone and problem solved

Don't worry about the ss... An easy fix to this is to set the mic to the side, not in front.
