So, in a recent interview RWJ was quoted saying:

I don’t know everything there is to know about Youtube-based networks, but as far as I do know, there’s no good reason to ever sign your Youtube Adsense account over to a 3rd party. Ever. Period. Anything a Youtube-based network wants to do for you, they can accomplish without seizing control of your Adsense account.

If the option of signing to a network like Maker came along I don't know if I would turn it down because they ask members to sign over Adsense. That is a ton of production assistance to turn down. However, it obviously didn't work for Ray.

I never give my adsense to Maker. I linked my account to their network otherwise I couldn't become partner at all. I think RWJ here is talking about the money, but I don't really care acount the money. Partners get cool features like custom thumbnail (shortly after I became partner everyone could do that), but that's the reason I became partner. I couldn't make money or become partner with adsense which got disabled a long, long time ago. So this 3rd party network was like a gift out of heaven to give me those awesome features and give me free music to make awesome videos.

Saw this a few hours ago thanks to reelseo.. I have to totally agree with him if you're a big YouTuber, as he said you can do it on your own you don't need a production team behind you. You already have a camera in the 4 degits (most do anyway) You could even probably fund yourself to do all that if you're making enough.

Uhh...it sounds like RWJ doesn't know what the heck he is talking about! When you sign with a Partnership Network, you are not actually signing over your Adsense, at least not your Adsense Account. I know this because I have both YouTube Partnered Channels, and one channel partnered with Maker Studios. My YouTube Partnered Channels are still earning Adsense monies independently of the one partnered with Maker. What you are signing over for the duration of your contract with your chosen network, is Content Claim Rights on your videos; in return for which, you get a share (and usually a larger share than YouTube itself would give you), of that Network's Adsense Income, amount determined by how well the ads served by your videos perform.

They wanted =3 IP he said in which I believe is totally true. So I can understand why he left.
