Questions about Gaming Channels

Hello,

I'm new to the Youtube community and I have several questions regarding uploading video game walkthroughs/Gameplay etc..

I've seen how some Youtube channels upload games early before release dates and whatnot, my question is, How can we find out if it is ok to upload a game early before release date without being penalized by Youtube? One example is, i've seen many Youtube walkthroughs/gameplay for the game Dead Island Riptide, days before it was released and none of those channel were penalized for uploading gameplay early. Another example was Injustice Gods Among us, I've seen walkthrough's and gameplays uploaded for that game early but those channels were penalized and eventually shut down.

Is there a site or forum in which we can find out if a game can be uploaded early before release date?

Ah ok, I was just wondering because some of these gaming channels get a head start on uploading gameplay right away. I was just wondering how they find out if it's legal to upload the gameplay before the release date. They have to give you the copy of the game for you to do it, and they tell you something along the lines of "You're not allowed to upload videos of this game until (Put date here)" this is something called an "Embargo" Hope that helps

Dang that sucks, i'm not big enough on youtube for that at all. But thank you for the info, helps a lot.
 
Yeah always wait till the release date. I already have the Far Cry 3 blood dragon thingy which will be available in a few days, so I wait till the release of the game before actually showing the footage. But there is no real way to find it out, some companies will strike you down when you do it, other companies don't even care.

Thanks Jo that clears up alot of my questions.
 
Some YouTubers are given copies of the games early as a way of promoting or hyping up the game by the developers/publishers themselves. They still have to fall within a certain date though. Its usually a few days before the actual release date.
 
Hmmm most of those channels, are partnered with a gaming network (i think) so they dont have to worry with the copyright stuff (i think XD)
But well, i wanted to do a Lp of a new game, day one XP But after a lot of tought and asking my friends for advice, i decided not to do it, because i could get a BAD copyright strike, and then my channel could be doomed, so just play it safe, do a walktrough of a game that has been out for a while XP
