Quality vs. Quantity or... a hint of both?

I don't mean like getting a recording then just putting it on youtube I mean like it's going to be good, just not as good if you put work into it such as editing and stuff...

Quality always beat quantity no matter what :p

If one doesn't put any real work in their videos, why should anyone view a video that is poor.

Its a common adage to go for quality over quantity however when all of us start quality is a very different value to what it is to us now. I remember watching people using sd caputre for gaming, awful audio but because of the limitations was "quality" work for them. Nowadays its hyper crisp audio, HD footage minimum and it moves off what you can show and falls onto the "Quality" of your person.

If you are a skilled editor and competent commentator you could know 3 vids out a day if you wanted to and get a tonne of views in the process so the argument sort of falls flat here.

However for a start up, go for a lot of videos to find your niche then hammer down and nail presentation as you become more focused on your target audience.

I would suggest to do LOADS of different stuff in the beginning, try out what's fun to do and what makes a good "youtube-serie". After you've tried all the different options, then you should pick a few of those and then go for those particular series or genres.

Lately I've been doing a lot of quantity, uploading a video every day! I've decided to stop doing that recently though. Hopefully that means my perceived quality will go up! :)
