I think Ryan and his family deserve their success. It's one of the few "kids channels" who actually make an effort with their videos. There's often some sort of a structure, a roleplay or script with some special effects. They're always having fun and doing cool stuff.
So many so-called "kids channels" are just grown adults (many of whom probably don't even have kids) filming their hands opening kinda eggs and placing them on a table with some generic music in the background and then making thousands of near identical versions of that same video and uploading it with slightly different metadata. ie duplicate, spammy content with very little value to try to trick the algorithm. They're the sort of channels that have "taken things too far".
