No emails for subs?

I have the opposite problem where I'll get an email, but won't see the subber. I looked at the email and it says it's because the user doesn't have a channel yet, but can still subscribe

Oh yea that's possible. That means that they subscribed to get email updates for new videos, but don't have a youtube account. EZZZ Im a f*****g NERD!

How do they do that? is that with google+ or something? how can you sub without a channel? :S

Well try logging out of all your google sessions, then look up a channel (Cough*) Mine. lol and try the experiment, you'll see how you can sub with no channel.
