Let's talk about "Shorts"

Not Bart Simpson telling you to eat them, but Youtube's new "thing."

So I looked up a few tutorials on how to upload shorts. Each one told me the same thing.

Uploaded my 20 second clip, hashtagged it shorts and short and youtubeshort. Published.

It still does not label it as a short?

So I went looking to see if I missed a setting or anything and nope. I didn't.

- upload a video under 60 seconds.
- hashtag shorts

Thats it. I have one that worked already a few months ago, but not this one. Did I miss something? Here it is here:

video must be in PORTRAIT format (at the most 1080 X 1920 for mobile) must include the #shorts in the title or description

I believe #shorts has to be in the actual title of the video, not as a tag. I also think it needs to be formatted in portrait mode.

So a little update, and experimenting.

I uploaded a short, done correctly on Saturday.

My friend was going to see if it came onto his "short" feed on the app.

As of Monday morning, it has not. Every single short he sees has over a million views. He gets NO shorts on any of his subbed channels.

So why is there a draw to this when you are only going to see the super popular shorts? Why would anyone even bother then?
