Is it just me or do you hate scripting?

I do script videos occasionally. I always do it for my news show because I can't retain the information, but also sometimes for my regular videos. I have horrible memory, but gosh it takes so long to freaking script them. On top of that I always get sidetracked.

I write out things i need to cover, but not really full on scripts. My real issue is my accent and cadence make it sounds like i'm being less enthusiastic than i actually am.

It's a love-hate relationship. When I used to do scripts, I remember spending a couple of hours on it because I was genuinely interested in the topic I was talking about; however, when there aren't ideas it's very difficult to write a script, and it feels time consuming.

I do recommend trying to do videos without a script. It can lead into a skill that some people don't have; how to speak eloquently and efficiently (i.e. stuttering, saying "like", using better vocabulary, sounding confident...).

Oh, and bullet points aren't bad either (just to have some structure).

I wouldn't say I write down every word that I am going to say, I bullet point the ideas and expand on them when im recording, so I think that classes as scripting

Scripting things out does really help a lot, but it's definitely (in my opinion) the most boring out of the steps of production. Production and post-production is the best. :) Pre-production can be fun... just not the scripting part lol

I can type fairly quickly so it doesn't take me too long to script something. And when I do script, it's not a full on script. It's more of an idea of what I would like to say.

Unless it's my Top 5 good news stories, because I could never remember all the new stories. I tend to bullet point 4 to 7 sentences on the news story so I can remember.

I do actually enjoy writing the scripts though. Maybe I'm crazy!

I usually write a script with complete train of thought, no effort, then I let it rest for like.. 2 days. Then I revise it. It makes my videos a bit more fluid and I can speak it out with more eloquence than usual/.

Wow not a lot of people have much love for scripting here... As for me I prefer scripting to improvising! It's much easier for me to structure my thoughts and most importantly trying to not leave out something that's important or say something stupid that won't affect me and my character in a long run, and all can be said in an eloquent and timely manner. I love the feeling of whipping out text document and starting fresh with so many ideas and arguments floating around my mind I can't find myself trying to improvise it all the way through.
