i REALLY need some help here.

this might not be the place to post this, but im out of options here.

im trying to make a new youtube account. although Google+ is a bucketload of s**t, i managed to find my way into the place where i switch my username. i try to switch my username to the one i want, and it says that its already taken. this is all fair and well, until i started searching up the username using the link: www,youtube,com/user/ etc etc. i searched the username that i wanted, but for some reason, it didnt show up. i got a 404 error. this is really really messed up. HOW can a username be TAKEN, but being avalible at the same time??!. this has been frustrating me for quite some time now, and any input on the matter would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

again, this might not be the place to rant about this, but i really dont know where to send my troubles to.

any feedback / suggestions would, again, be greatly appreaciated. thank you for reading.

I think it may be due to them deleting their account although I am not 100% certain, I thought they showed an account deleted message or something. My partner wanted to sign up the other day and her username was available a week beforehand and it wasnt something you would expect to be taken within a week and when she searched for it she also got the 404 even though it was taken.
 
hmm, thing is. a few years ago i owned this account. i deleted it, im sure of it; but why does it still mock up? its so strange and frustrating

I havent a clue, 404 is typically page not found, it could be there new way of handling deleted account pages and they just throw up a 404 now but I am sure I have seen "This user has closed their account" or something along the lines of that recently. I wish I knew.
 
I think they're right. It probably was recently deleted. I've experienced similar things on other sites.
I don't think names are that important. Some of the most popular channels on YouTube have usernames that sound like a bad AIM handle that a 14 year old girl would choose. ZeldaxLove64 anyone?
 
A YouTube Channel Name is like a Signature. Once choosen you can`t simple rename it or recreate a new One after it was deleted. In the Past idiocy has proven that the current Way is the best One and therefore YouTube/Google only handle out deleted Accounts after they had seen some valid Reason why they should recreate the Channel and handle over the Account to you.

I have seen a few Cases last Year where it was done so if you are up to it you still can get in Contact with the YouTube Team and try your Luck.
 
I have a weird situation regaring adsense lol. My email on adsense is diff to my youtube but the code is the same :confused: I just leave it its too much of a hassle lol
 
Okay, bumping this thread. Hate me for it, I don't mind; but this issue is likely not one of a kind, and should be looked into.

Ive decided to again, take on this issue with Google+, and eventually I found my way to a help section! (Yeah, help section. **** me, right?). I came across the preferences section, where I found that I can change my username, again; but the username (which might I add, STILL ISN'T OCCUPIED) that I choose for my account, is OCCUPIED! I have no fundamental idea why YouTube is doing this to me, so I am requesting for a YouTube administrator to kindly relieve the "occupied" account so that it may be available for usage again (If an administrator even reads this, and agrees to do this for me, I will be in enormous gratitude; and if an administrator is willing to do this for me, notify me and i can PM you the username I want for my account.). Mind you, I have checked twice for the availability of my chosen username by typing youtube(.)com/user/(mywantedusername) and the channel DOES NOT exist.

I'd appreciate any sort of positive idea input by anyone who reads this on how to solve this issue. I'm in despair at the moment, and am sort of clueless on how to even take on this issue. I appreciate your time.

I think you jsut need to keep pertering them untill they sort it out.

Once a YouTube username has been taken, even if it gets deleted, it can't be used again. It helps prevent people taking up other peoples' identities. I had to look into that myself when I was hunting for a username for my collab channel. It's horribly frustrating.
