Apparently youtube forces people to add characters and numbers to make your channel "Unique" i have searched for people who may have claimed my name and there are none so is there a way to claim my custom url without adding anything to it ?
Take your user name in your profile, not the url name, change it. Delete 3-4 letters. Then when you set up your url and it asks to choose something different, type in what you want, it worked for me
