Fun, but Risky Film Idea

Hi, I am Jacob, Founder of the YouTube Channel 4 Dudes And A Camera Films. I had a idea, but would take so much work to do, so I am doing this thread for entertainment. So, the film idea is to make a musical, but with Artist's album as the song. Example: I would fit a story to have Fall Out Boy's "American Beauty/American Pyscho" as the soundtrack.
Question: Which Album would make the best story?

Question should be "Which artist won't charge me or kill me with copyright notices?"

That being said... Fall Out Boy's music is on point.

You can't use copywritten music in that way. If you had friends who make their own music and would allow you to use it, that would be a terrific idea, though!

Purely hypothetically, Mastodon's album Crack The Skye. It's about a man in a coma who goes back in time, takes over Rasputins body and then flies out of the galaxy. Would make for one hell of a film...

The whole concept kind of reminds me of Big Time Rush (the Nickelodeon TV show) and those Beatles movies, where basically all the songs used were from their albums. Or even that Michael Jackson Moonwalker film. It's been done before, so you can either use original songs or do it the Glee way, but there might be some copyright issues along the way with the latter.

Yeah unfortunately like others have said it would more often than not, result in some legal action being taken against you and your video being taken down :(. The only time I imagine this working out is if Fall Out Boy see your stuff and really like it and themselves let it go through. Because their agency is most likely going to want it down asap

a musical you mean like sing the songs? like across the universe or blackpool?
i mean, is the music meant to be part of the story?
either way you need to own or license the rights if you mean to make any money.
youtube won't let you monetize otherwise and if you don't have the rights you'll be in trouble anywhere

I had a similar idea myself about doing a series of videos about a particular album, but I'm doing fanvids so I'm not particularly concerned about copyright, since it does fit under fair use and I'm not interested in monetizing.
