First look at the new youtube channel design

This is like being in a hospital, sterile. Oh, well, YouTube/Google doesn't really care what we think. 1 banner, tiny social network buttons in the corner of a banner and that's about it from the looks of it. They tried to play it smart by getting their famous line up on board so the rest of us a go along without whining too much.

What they've presented in those links is horrible. I know it's not "complete" yet, but if they advertise those channels, then they should expect some feedback.
They are taking away so many customization options. I'm not a fan.

I have to agree with you, but it's their company and stuff like this is a wake up call to that. They will pretend to listen to feedback and still do whatever is best for them. It's business. It's their business.

Yeah, at the end of that day they are going to do whatever suits their branding and their revenue. Sometimes this goes in the favour of smaller channels, but lately not so much...
 
I've went from hate to love.

I love the one click subbox on the right, that will prove wonders for me as i've negotiated placement with some high ranking channels!
I went to my parents and showed my mother the new layout and she thought it was more intuitive, she's fairly familiar with my channels but not youtube in general.
I showed my dad the two channels (mine and epicmealtime) and he MUCH preferred the new layout!! (not really familiar with youtube)

If this means youtube will attract new listeners for my channel rather than appealing to the existing crowd, as a content producer i'm alright with this.

I'm totally down with this layout, i've already contracted out a designer to do up the gfx.

Seriously though, I think it flows very well with the homepage. My only concern is that at the moment it looks very bland. Hopefully the 'awesome customizable features' will take that over and make up for everything.

We'll see how this goes, Google.. We'll see how this goes..
 
well the trailer sounds nice. but the channel layout looks like s**t.

wonder when this will go in effect because i barely got a nice bg :/

I was just thinking that. I think everyone will have banners, and only partners will have links in the banner. Also, tell Sam I said hi! Been watching him since he had under 100k subs. It's so cool everything he is doing now with MVPTracker.com and he is really connecting Youtube stardom with real life celebrities. Is he leaving Machinima? :)
 
This looks aweful! Youtube needs to stop messing with crap. It is perfect the way it is now!

It looks way to plain the way it is right now. I like the original design, you have actual backgrounds that add a bit of a personal touch to a channel, Just a banner isnt enough, looks terrible
