Doing what the gurus tell me to do, still very little growth!

Warning this is not to be out of place but to help.

(I quit Youtube so do not check my channel saying well you do not do that you have no banner and your thumbnails are awful.. I know XD)

So I disagree with most of the answers here. If you do not want to take hours going through Youtube playbooks and many updates Youtube : gurus might have good advices for you. Not everyone is internet Savyy or knows how Youtube works. Watch Roberto blake's live he has a lot of insight on marketing for example.

Some remarks about Old not dead channel's :

- Your profile picture could be better it is actually hard to see it is a funny hat on your head.

- Your banner's name is not centered and on mobile it is probably not even possible to guess what it is.

- There is no upload schedule on your banner, or a hint about what your channel is about.

- You do have a channel trailer but the description again does not say what your channel is about or a schedule.

- I watched the trailer and finally I know what your videos are about. I guess you do not have a schedule so you could say "I upload sevral times a week" or give an approximation.

- You could say on your banner, enjoying life and sharing my passion for golf, good food and drones in (arizona?) so if someone was to click on your channel the banner says it all.

- Your thumbnails are too crowded and the font your are using on the drone videos not very attractive. To be honest I stopped using fonts in the past until a guru recomended Canvas design website you can make free thumbnails, banners etc... They have nice fonts. You recent videos seem to use different font though so I don't know.

- Your video's are not search friendly, noone will searched for flyover hole 6. Maybe beautiful golf course sky view , amazing sky view of blabla golf course? Something searchable and catchy. Maybe review golf gear to attract people that like golf and say you have drone videos of this or this golf court.

(An example for this : I live in Japan, I might go to a park that noone knows about called kokkekoko, well I will not put kokkekoko in the title but something like Beautiful japanese garden in Tokyo , then add kokkekoko if I have space in the title, tags, and description but searchable terms should be first )

Use tubebuddy to actually use keywords/sentences that are searched a lot and that do not have too much competition. One of your videos might rank and bring people to your channel. Golf enthousiasts are a thing so you can build a community around this, or around drones, then add all the funny things you do.

For your playlist you wrote drone video. How about reviewing the drone and writing also in the video's title description and tags what drone you use. Everytime you use something add an affiliate link so people that want it can buy them. So many time I wondered what is this person using, there is no link so I look for another video. Same for golf gear (videos like best golf club, review of (brand name) club / golf bag etc.. great presents for someone that love golf, a golfer, or else, my mom loves golf but I know nothing about it, nothing)

Your playlist does not have descriptions by the way. And again they should be searchable terms. Sometimes I search english songs for kids and what comes on top are playlists.

You are using the tags but you are using tags that are probably not searched. Even your funny fridays could be lable daddy jokes. If you made a series of daddy jokes , you could tag them as best daddy jokes, worst daddy jokes etc... It is an exemple. Tubebuddy is free to use.

You could also add old not dead in your tags if you have space. By the way I am not sure people search ha ha ha, but I might be wrong. You could say try not to laugh at this joke challenge or else...

In my opinion golf, drones food you could find your community, but the thing is that they have to find you that is how it works on youtube. And they need to click the videos.

I mean gurus give a lot of value but sometimes you think you are applying what they say but you are really not.

If you want to build a community you have to know what you are sharing clearly and then SEO will be the way to grow.

Thanks you for checking out my channel Jenna, I really do appreciate it and
thanks for all the constructive criticism. I will look closer at all your points & learn.
I do have some problems with some of the gurus ideas and I do like some stuff they say.
My fonts and style has changed from when I started. I agree with you about my introduction video on my channel being not specific enough as to what my channel is about. I am editing the footage to a new intro right now. Tags are a talent, something that I am working on (just started with adwords and will now check out Tubebuddy, This is definitely a learning curve for me so any constructive ideas, comments and criticisms are welcome.

Cheers,
Scott

There are Gurus and then there are people who can help you grow your channel. A good way is to find facebook group/page with lots of active users 1mil+ in your niche, contact group/page owner and pay him to place your link in his new post and if possible mention your channel. You will get targeted traffic to your channel/videos, plus it will increase your video ratings because it will a back link to your video.

Well basically youtube is over populated especially for English videos, so if you want to grow you need to invest money in your account, otherwise no matter how many guru videos you watch and follow their advice it will be totally useless, as your video will be lost with millions of other videos uploaded from small channels.

Thank you so so much for your honest opinion on this topic man!! Appreciate it loads! This is some incredible insight there.

You are totally right about some talk BS, but some are actually really helpful.

The ones who keep complaining are not patient enough OR they are doing it wrong.

The truth is, being a Youtuber is hard, however, it's not impossible. The best way is to follow your passion and of course following the tips and tricks you have given and what experts are saying.

Sometimes we also have to adapt and see what people ARE SEARCHING for. If you are doing something what you love, but nobody is looking for it then you can't blame "why don't I have clicks".

I'm not blaming at all. I am totally satisfied if I don't have clicks because right now I'm doing videos that people are not looking for, but what I myself find interesting. When I have enough then I will be making videos that people are actually SEARCHING for.

This way, they will then want to watch more videos and see something NEW -> what goes through my mind -> my brand.

Step by step, though. Keep on growing and stop complaining. Work smart and not hard. If it's what you want then first you have to DESERVE it.

Thank you again ma man!! For sharing your awesome tips!

There is not doubt You Tube is hard......grind grind grind. I truly enjoy making these videos so I will continue to do so...I feel it takes just one video or break to start the whole ball moving.

I do appreciate all the comments, tips, and conversations on this topic.

Cheers,
Scott

I have watched several (100s) of videos from so called "You Tube gurus" and still have very little (very slow) following their so called advice. Has anyone else followed their advice and had slow to little growth? Or am I being impatient?
same!!!!!!!!! im working hard and getting almost no progress or growth

You need to find gurus who are helpers. Not just people who post tutorials & how to videos, if you're watching the free stuff, don't expect much in return. Look at Clients Incoming - Digital Marketing Strategy aka AlloySeven (which has some pretty motivational, upfront & raw videos telling you like it is &) who specifically provides paid services in tiers, some of which include group calls & channel reviews where they're in direct contact with you, he started something called the Ninja Academy.

YouTube is an area now, ESPECIALLY if you want to take it seriously like a business; where you either get lucky & grow OR spend money to learn how to grow. I've only ever bought the Gamer's Survival Guide he has, which that alone helped me find a better direction for my channel (I was ready to come to terms with throwing in the towel a year ago. But I'm 100% sure if I followed the book properly I'd be much better off for it. Sadly, I'm not a great learner, it's always been hard for me to learn things & apply them properly.

You either got it or you don't. No matter how much you listen to other people you can't change who you are. And if you are not likeable you are never going to take off. Source: 4+ years on YouTube and 4.2K subscribers. Yes, 4.200 subscribers is nothing to sneeze at, but it still isn't hardly the 100K everyone including myself wants to see.

I like what you are saying...I think it has to do with what your content is and if it is what people want to see....I will keep refining and honing my channel. Thanks for your response. Btw, you just grew by one more! :)

Scott
