Constructive criticism on my first YouTube (tech - desk set up) video

Hi peeps,

First and foremost I would want to introduce myself on here as it is my first post, my name is Rob and I currently work full time as a photographer and looking to transition into more video.

Tech videos are something that always intrigued me, and after making a ton of excuses as to why I shouldn't start one, I finally did it and posted my first video!

The video is about showing off the biggest piece of tech I have in my room, my work/gaming PC set up.

Any constructive criticism is highly appreciated and if anyone have any tips on growing a channel, please do let me know!

Thanks,

Rob

Your video has a professional-caliber feel to it -- I could easily envision seeing it on a popular tech channel. The camera/lighting is very good, the panning/zooming/focus action flows well, the visuals are nice and colorful, the background music selection/volume fits well, the video editing is crisp.

One area of improvement I would suggest would be with the voiceover audio. There's a lot of low-frequency to it that ends up muffling some of your articulations. I ran a quick treble-enhancing/bass-reducing filter in audacity and it made a significant difference to my ear. You can get much more sophisticated with tools like Premiere Pro, etc. Another tip is to try to speak more deliberately and resonantly in places (this can be a challenge for me sometimes, so I'm just passing on some lessons-learned :) ) For example, the sentence at 0:16 feels somewhat rushed and not as clear. "Ihave a pair of [gray?] [alex?] drawers, which gives me morenenough space...". Instead of speeding through "more than enough", consider emphasizing one or more of those words "which gives me MORE than enough space ..." Consciously selecting places to emphasize will help slow you down for your words to land more strongly (but don't overdo that either, or it'll sound like overacting :) ).

Again, very solid work here. Best of luck to you in your efforts!

i really like the vibe of your channel, actually!! your first video is really impressive, i would just work on branding your channel a little bit and maybe making yourself a nice header / icon that really represent yourself and your channel, since they just appear to be photos. that's my personal preference though, but i really think having some form of branding like that on your page will separate you from personal channel to establishing a Channel, if that makes sense lol.

the thumbnail you chose is really really aesthetically pleasing, i would keep going in that direction!

I watch a channel call Pimp My Setup, so I'm going to crit you on what I think they would.

Everything is good, but it has no personality.
That's basically what they say when everything else is on point and I usually hate when they say it but might help you and that's the only real crit i can give.

Are you using a camera slider or are those smooth shots handheld?
Also is your background playing video or a audio visualizer. Looks cool
Lastly, are you going to get a wired mech keyboard, and if so are you going to drill a hole through you table to hide the cable or just deal with it?

Solid setup!

looks perfect to me. Well filmed and edited! I like the thumbnail you captured. I guess as a photographer you have some skills to help you along that the rest of us have to learn the slow way. Good start.. you need some more content now. What do you plan to do next?
