Just to make things clear, me and the guy I was talking about are both into the music industry.

Here’s my channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCeGJFCaOcxxc47ScXvyPFUQ

And here’s his: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWcA0vULcNnoeDYHBjwtfQg

He’s gained a lot of subscribers from one of his videos that blew up a couple of months ago. Maybe the revenue is spread out on a larger period of time even though the video is not getting as many views as it used to?

And even if it was, he earned 8k from YouTube in his first month from that video, which I think was on 2 million views. I’ve earned $700 from one video that has hit a million.

Good question - where are those views coming from? That might be the reason behind stark differences in earnings.

Another factor might be the actual content of the music videos themselves. This is purely speculation on my part, but I suspect flex songs featuring expensive cars, stacks of cash and million-dollar mansions get higher CPMs than ballads and love songs.

Or maybe it's just YT blatantly stealing money from you, leaving you with a smaller share in ad revenue and no proof of any wrongdoing. The conspiracy theorist in me certainly wouldn't be surprised by something like that.

Whatever it is, it certainly causes a very radical difference.
