Why Do Weird Videos Go Viral So Fast

So what I've seen the past couple times I've come across a "viral video" is that for example let's say someone drops a watermelon from a second story window and the video is about 20 seconds long and it becomes a hit overnight and ends up in the trending section on YouTube.. How does that work so fast??? I've seen viral videos and when I go to the channel the person literally just made a account with that 1 video and yet we have tons of people in youtube land and on yttalk land that make weekly videos and struggle to get the views and subscribers

My channel is more of a vlog/rant channel so I guess it would be harder for a channel like myself to gain the views and all that but it just blows my mind how a random video a person uploaded can go crazy overnight and gain a ton of subs that way too

- mainly kids watch YouTube and for them such things are a big deal
- plus as @Jate said - random snowball effects form social media (YT algorithm is very good now to supress such snowball artefacts originating from YT itself but it has very little power over reddit/facebook/twitter etc.).

Yeah I know xD my sister told me the other day her kids were on her phone and now all that comes up on youtube is clips like that lol yeah they has millions of views it's crazy

I agree with you bud, lol weird videos get the fame over night, but that's only temp. If we Youtubers stay consistent with our content then we will get there some day. If you want something, you go get it. ( my pops once told me)

I agree with Olivea-Sea, it's purely cause by "curiosity". But if you want to built channel authority, I think high quality video will grow faster than weird video (in long term)...
