What is the custom thumbnail size?

I just got the option to make custom thumbnails for my videos but i do not now what the size of the image must be.
Anyone who knows?

^ Not actually true, on a channel I had before I had custom thumbs and they were smaller but still worked (whether this has since changed I don't know)

My thumbnails are smaller but still look great. 640 x 400 is what I always run mine at.

I Always do 1280x720, as long it is under 2mb you can pick any size.
