Welcome to our VOTM information and guidelines, these are in place so that everyone has a chance at winning and also makes VOTM better for everyone.

How to Enter

Every month here at YTtalk we hold the Video of the Month competition, everyone can enter for a chance of winning. When entries are being taken in there will be an announcement in the announcements forum allowing you to submit your entry. Entries will close after a set amount of time and then voting will be begin, once voting is over the winner is given the free promotion and an announcement is made in the announcements forum. All previous VOTM threads are moved to the VOTM Archives forum after the competition.

What do you win?

You will have a link to both your channel and video of your choice in our header up there at the top right. This will gain your channel and videos some attention and you will look great up there. You will stay there for a maximum of one month or until the next VOTM has finished.



Can I put in multiple entries?

No, we can only accept one entry per person.

Can I vote on my own?

Yes that is allowed. You can of course choose to use your vote on another persons video if you feel like being a good sport and if you want them to win.

How can I get more votes?

Invite your friends over to the forums or anyone else and ask them to vote for you. This isnt classed as cheating and will of course help you with winning. Not everyone will opt to do this so even if you dont it is still worth putting in an entry.

How can I win?

The best way to win is by entering a good video of course, if people like what they see they will of course vote you to win.

Can I sign up and vote with multiple accounts here?

No this is cheating and is not allowed. Your entry and votes will be removed if you choose to do this including any votes from your original account and you may not be allowed in future Video of the Month competitions. If this occurs frequently we may have no option but to close all of your accounts.

Can I submit the same video again?

You can submit the same video again although it is best to submit something different.

Can I enter the month after winning?

To keep things fair you must skip an entry if you won the previous month. For example, if I won in January I couldnt enter into Februarys VOTM but I could enter in March and so on.

I have a question, what should I do?

Thats quite an old rule, they do need updating to reflect the amount of people we have here, that particular rule was for when we had a lot less people here and a lot less entries and was to stop people winning over and over, say we had 5 entries, their chance of winning again would be rather high, they will get updated quite soon, I just need to figure out the best way to overcome the masses of entries we get put in so the votes are more fair, I know more people will vote on other peoples this way too.

Are you saying uploaders of content to YouTube or uploaders of content to the competition? I do think you mean the first there, I wont be able to do that and I believe that everyone should have the chance to vote, most people here are uploaders to YouTube too.

I could try and limit that but I couldnt realistically do it each month, theres no way I can tell who is a friend of whos when signing up and it would make it 100 times harder to moderate the voting. Thats why I like the idea of limiting the entries and doing a random pick of 10, so if people decided to do that, the voters who couldnt enter their own would be voting meaning more votes to hopefully stop that from happening too much Thanks for all the suggestions though, it seems no system can make everyone happy nor can be 100% perfect, everything is flawed
